Spellbound
i am watching my favorite Hitchcock movie again. this is the second time that i saw this movie. i fell in love with this movie the first time i saw it. it was the mystery of Gregory Peck's character, the whole movie plot that was different from usual Hitchcock movies. Ingrid Bergman is really pretty here and had a wonderful performance as the psychiatric doctor who falls in love with the bipolar/ paranoid John Ballantine (who also has short term memory and/or amnesia). John Ballantine (Peck) cannot remember what happened and how it happened that he was able to assume the character of his psychiatrist Dr. Anthony Edwards, who mysteriously disappeared after a trip to the mountains. with Ballantine being discovered as an impostor, he runs away and Dr Petersen follows him. haunted down by the police, they run off to Rochester and stay with Dr Petersen's psychiatrist friend pretending to be a recently married couple. i shall stop here so as not to spoil you from knowing what the movie is or its ending.
Peck gives a gripping performance as someone haunted by shadows and lines. his razor scene was one of the highlights of the movie. you try to hold your breath to know if he will be killing the dear old doc. his stern face, the mystery of black and white, the stop motion, everything was really gripping.
i love this movie. she is pretty. he is so handsome. he looked like someone from my past. and Hitchcock, is Hitchcock, great!

Spellbound (1945)
thanks to IMDB
Constance Petersen: Of course not. People fall in love, as they put it, because they respond to a certain hair coloring or vocal tones or mannerisms that remind them of their parents.
Anthony Edwardes: Or... or... sometimes for no reason at all.
Constance Petersen: That's not the point. The point is that people read about love as one thing and experience it as another. Well, they expect kisses to be like lyrical poems and embraces to be like Shakespearean dramas.
Anthony Edwardes: And when they find out differently, then they get sick and have to be analyzed, eh?
Constance Petersen: Yes, very often.
Anthony Edwardes: Professor, you're suffering from "mogo on the gogo"
Constance Petersen: I beg your pardon!
there was another line that i wasnt able to catch properly from the movie. it was sweet, especially it was before the time they kissed. *sigh!* Love Love Love.

My Saturday
Today is movie day. Actually, movie marathon day. as of press time, im watching my 5th movie for the day. (and i said i have to finish my paper.) =)
1) Rear Window- yeah the first time i saw this. really nice. the end part was gonna hold your breath.
2) Ang Pagdadalaga Ni Maximo Oliveros- I wasnt able to fully watch it yet as I am busy. but i was watching glimpses of it, especially the near end part. i like it. its a low budget movie so you'll see the lighting was affected, but the story was still there. thats what usually matters to me.
3) Pinay Pie- uh... i dont want to comment more. i was reading the subtitles, the translation was good. =) i like Joyce Jimenez there, she's the only one who's character you can tolerate.
4) You Are The One- gosh! ive seen this 4 times!!! the last 3 times i saw it, its because those im watching it with hasnt seen it. Sam Milby!!! haha! nah! he's not my "guy". =) fave scene: when Sally gets confronted by the fact that Will is not her boyfriend, but she has become consumed by the fact that there is "something" going on with them. ***hmmm.... friends! hello! =o)***
5) Santa Santita (International Release Title: MAGDALENA)- yeah right now im watching it. it has a good line-up. mostly actors that have been rewarded for their acting excellence, except for the main character. thats what was disappointing me. the main character.
#1 is the only Hollywood movie. #2 to #5 are all Filipino movies.
and i am still not done with my paper, i also have to help my groupmates with the report. great!
