Vacarros

Cassata Cake (i didnt like those shaved nuts on the side though.)
Illy Squared Coffee (its sinful cream do not give justice to how strong it tasted. it was actually that type of strong taste that i didnt like. thanks to the liqueur.)

Ive been to vacarros several times but never tried having a sit down time while downing my dessert. I usually have gelatos here, trying between chocolate or coffee flavored ones. I've tried cookies before but never tried their cakes, and on this particular day, I tried the cassata cake. I'm not a fan of cannoli but the cassata changed my preferrence for canolli. I think I can live the dessert eating cannoli cream. There are two choices: regular or chocolate. If regular is not as sinful enough then that's what I got. Plus, in this great day of adventure, the least I can do is eat the one u are most familiar with. So i ordered regular. Regular is just what you need to really know the taste that u want anyway. And indeed I enjoyed it. Beneath the fact that i didn't eat dinner and I'm having dessert, this is really good. Thank God it isn't unbelievably massive, just enough for me. To top this is the Illy Squared coffee which is espresso and espresso liqueur. It is actually a major work for me to get thru this piece of ... coffee. I dunno, I think I was expecting an espresso shot with a kick but it gave me more than it. Its actually too much coffee with too much kick. I was practically drowning in a tub of coffee.

When I got home, I felt full still, even after a couple of hours of walking and doing some stuff. Then my aunt asked me to make her some scrambled eggs and heat up the sausage. i did, and i made her some breakfast for dinner. it made me hungry. so at two am, i was nibbling on two pieces of vienna sausage and a glass of milk.

When I still lived in Maryland, I used to drive an hour just to go to Vaccaros! Their stuff is the best around the Baltimore-Washington area for Italian pastries. It was also good practice for me to eat there since I now live in Little Italy of NY.

id love to try more of their desserts, but maybe settle for a good brewed coffee next time. =)
