Political Actors Needed

... NOT ACTORS IN POLITICS

Title of an article in Inquirer.net:
Richard Gomez to run for Senate under administration ticket

COME ON!!! get out of here!

what has happened to the elections? elections became the next stepping stone of actors to pursue a career after their blinding star status has faded. this is such a bad habit for Filipino actors to involve themselves into politics when their careers are in resuscitation. they get into politics to get elected by their fans, receive income from Filipino tax payers, receive income from "other sources", receive income from their home studios for TV guestings and other appearances, receive income from film companies for making a movie even if its once a year.

what do we get from that? a person who has a high designation by name but doesnt show his or her worth as an elected official. dont these people get that we elect them and that they are the ones who should owe us something, not us indebted to them? but what else do we have after that, piles of debt in the world bank and other institutions, incomplete bridges, potholes on the road, non-potable water, homeless, uneducated, jammed traffic, slow progress, and bigger ass and bellies to those in position. hell! what is going on?!

the Philippines is a third world country, and as much as i hate the stigma of the "third world" (that being in Manila makes me feel that we do not deserve that title), we cannot get away from it coz not only third world, but we are getting primitive even. we are pacing to the globalized market, but we lack the educated, that can make us say that we are really moving forward.

if 50% hate it that actors become politicians, then the other 50% (those who love them and vote for them), are ignorant of who the other politicians are, because they are not well exposed, not entertainers. in other words, they do not have the star quality.

if this trend continues, we shall not call it elections but People's Choice Awards. say, we will be having elections every year! that would be great. whoever wins best director shall be President, Best actor as External VP, Best Actress as Internal VP, Producer as the Sec of Treasury, and so on and so forth. aint that going to be better? at least the Philippines will have a new title as the sucked up government, the most innovative one for having elections every year and that it is really due to popular demand.

dear Filipinos, remember this, you only get what you give. think many times before writing their names on the ballots. do not only get to know them now that they are perfuming their image, do a little research and remember the past faults, successes, failures, inconsistencies, their background, their track record, their personality.

not that i am dissing Mr Gomez right now, but here are some things that i remember about him
(1) he worked with Mamamayan Ayaw ng Droga or MAD with JV Ejercito.
(2) he was the actor who often got into a fight with another actor during the Star Olympics (if he is #1, then maybe Rudy Fernandez is #2 as "war freaks")
(3) he was dissing PGMA not too long ago, especially during the Erap Administration
(4) thank you to Mrs. Torres-Gomez, he has a speech writer.
(5) and right now, he showed his butterfly effect as he jumps from one political party to another just so to get what he wants... a position.

who wants him or any other of them be in the NATIONAL Senate when they are all about their OWN interest?!? think about that.
