Catch and Release

Catch and Release
Directed by: Susannah Grant

another cutesy movie from Jennifer Garner. i swear i love her, just that i kindda dont like the movie.

(1) falling in love with your dead fiance's bestfriend is such a sucker, not unless you've secretly been eyeing him since then.
(2) kissing and sex cannot erase 6 years of a relationship, whatever the secrets you afterwards find out are.
(3) the good girl falls for the bad boy. old school!
(4) not my way of moving on after a death. (if it was after a bad break-up that will be much of a difference).
(5) some shots were just sucking up the love bug!!! too sugary ugh! (the scenes showing their sexual relationship was too much, the scene where they were showing the "dead" guy getting too far from the shore while she was speaking in his memorial, the sudden still shot showing gray and fritz's proximity while they were in the beach, going to kiss).
(6) timothy olyphant is a good looking guy, but i dont see him as a good guy for the role. i mean, i cant see his sincerity in executing his role. his eye movements, his dialogues, and his actions do not go together. one messes up the other, so i was kindda getting sick looking at him...act.
(7) comparing jennifer garner's cutesy role in 13 going on 30 and here, i like her better in the former. she was able to act the character better there, than here. or i think her cute-sy acting is too much in this movie. i dunno. i just feel that way.

some tidbits (my observations from this movie and 13 going on 30)
1. her characters were both betrayed. betrayed by a lover, and betrayed by a colleague.
2. has a secret past that is quite dark. her confession of making out with a girl, and her secret dealings with Sparkle mag
3. main squeeze (the guys Matty and Fritz) are both photographers

Up until the sappy ending, I thought that it was going to end with her realizing she was a fool to do that thing. I thought that it would take the same risk as "The Breakup" and leave the relationship as a fling. I was disappointed when it didn't end up that way.

both movie's became too good to be true... which makes the movie un-true!
