Grammy's and Me

ITunes has the 50 years of Grammy's playlists right now, and of course, i had the download frenzy again!!! (weeh!) and i wanted to highlight one playlist there. the one from the 27th Grammy's which happened on my birth year, 1984. so these are the Grammy winning songs and artists on the year i was born:

Record of the Year and Song of the Year: What's Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner
Album of the Year: Cant Slow Down by Lionel Richie which includes the song Hello
Best New Artist: Cyndi Lauper (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun)

Best Pop Vocal Performance (Male): Against All Odds by Phil Collins *incidentally one of my fave songs*
Best Rock Vocal Performance (Male): Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen

Best Rock Performance by a Duo or a Group with Vocal: Purple Rain by Prince
Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal: Jump (For My Love) by Pointer Sisters
Best Country Performance by a Duo or a Group with Vocal: Mama He's Crazy by Judds

Best R&B Vocal Performance (Female): I Feel For You by Chaka Khan
Best R&B Vocal Performance (Male): Carribean Queen by Billy Ocean

most of the songs i can sing to and as i said, Against All Odds is one of my favorite songs... honestly, and while i was listening to the snips for the other songs, like Tina Turner's song, i was able to sing along the whole chorus. thanks i guess to fm radios, multiplex, karaoke, and videoke machines for making this possible.

check out your birth year Grammy's too and share your story. =)

Oh my god, I'm old. I was roller skating and watching Goonies during 1984. Yikes.

1971 is a terrible year!

"You've got a friend" as song of the year. Ugh.

Carly Simon best new artist.

There's nothing nice about that year. Maybe the theme from shaft but nothing else.
