i am indebted to this blog for not posting any reviews. other movies that i saw and i wasnt able to write a review about are:
1) Superbad
2) Simpsons
3) Goya's Ghosts
4) ... hmmm... i am not sure anymore. are there other movies i missed writing down?
3:10 to Yuma
i liked this movie not because of the actors, though really, these are very good actors. it has a very good ensemble. it was a nice movie, giving us a western feel again with the setting, but the old Western feel of the movie was not established. this Western movie is Hollywood-ish. its not actually a flaw, but it just is different from say watching Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, and others play Cowboys in their movies back in the days. with the theme song's refrain going around the title of the movie, to the gun slinging and drawing background music (with the sound of metal clutching swiftly), to the drier feel of the western set-up. to the scruffy looking cowboys that makes you think that gyms and exercise equipment are not much available that time. though Russell Crowe has some pounds on his belly, he is good looking still. hehe! Christian Bale on the other hand looks young to have a tall 14 year old son. anyway, the story for me is about keeping up with your pride and/or leaving a legacy. you try to keep up with how you want others to perceive you to be, how other people want you to be, you tend to also forget a sense of being yourself. (is that a review or a realization?). anyway, thats what i can say about the movie right now. but i liked it.
i give it a 4/5
Good Luck Chuck
the whole point of the story is that Dane Cook's character is a guy who everyone wants to fuck with (and by fuck, i mean just fuck!). after being invited in a wedding by an ex-girlfriend, all the ladies found out about the "secret", "urban legend" of Charles Logan which is after she dates a girl, and fucks her, they end up breaking up or something, and she moves on and ends up getting engaged (thus next, get married). to think about how all these women wanted to date him for that sole purpose is sad. he may have had a lot of sex when he got all the ladies' attention because of that "rumor/fact" but he was sad for he didnt have the personal attachment, the L-O-V-E that should be present in a relationship. it ended up as a string of one night stands only. when he met Cam Wexler, he wanted her so bad, he wanted her forever. but she was "commitment-phobic". afraid to love and be hurt, especially with Charlie's infamous status. in the end, they face the music, he TRIED letting go of her thinking that she will be forever with someone else because of the curse, and she WAITING. end: in a "Wedding Singer"-y (thanks Seed for reminding me) ending, they confess their love and ends up together (and ends up having kinky fantasy about penguins. wahaha!).
i liked one quote from the movie, but imdb doesnt have it written down to remind me. so i'll wait for it.
i give it a 2/5 (i originally gave a 3)
