typical of pretty old movies are parts where characters smoke their cigarettes or cigars. from cowboys to gangsters to the guy next door to the nosy reporter finishing his or her deadline. these characters had something piping on their hand. stress reliever? maybe. but it boils down to image, character enhancer, and most importantly for the male characters, it builds the machismo.
what about a 1941 movie with a crow smoking a cigar? and by the way, it is from a company who said the place where dreams come true. with me 43 years younger than the movie, and the movie celebrating its 66th anniversary, the best that i could say about it is that the time has really changed. maybe watch Thank You For Smoking and be more entertained by this smoking fad.

You should watch "Tom and Jerry". It's a cartoon, and they've got smokers...I just bought a box set of the cartoons, and they've got a disclaimer saying that the cartoon shorts may be unsuitable for young children.
Perhaps because the cat is running with knives, the mouse is lighting fires, and the cat's friends are smoking.
Unsuitable...blah! We grew up with that darn cat and mouse. And we turned out just fine. I think.
Although the second paragraph sounds a lot like my life- and my friends lives at the moment.
thats nice! i used to always catch Cartoon Network for their runs of "T&J". its the same with most of the cartoons, like Looney Tunes or Mickey. it just hit me that day coz Izzy was watching it. its like, ive seen this before, i didnt even notice it. its either im not bothered for myself but im bothered for the lil kids, or im on that age... rather, "age-ing".
